By Elizabeth Gilbert
Book Title: Eat, Pray, Love
Eat, pray, love. Three wonderful words that, thanks to their author, have changed the lives of many people. Elizabeth Gilbert. Probably there is no person who has not heard about this woman. Based on the book “Eat, Pray, Love”, a film of the same name was shot, starring Julia Roberts and Javier Barden.
If you haven’t read this book or watched the movie yet, I highly recommend doing both. The book can be re-read many, many times. I have already read it three times, and I will continue to read it, because every time I find something new, not noticed earlier. And the film is worth watching because it was filmed where Elizabeth Gilbert was.
If you completely briefly retell the plot of the book, then we can say the following. This is one year in the life of a woman traveling through Italy, India and Indonesia in search of herself, her path, her I. Elizabeth Gilbert describes herself, her life, the book is autobiographical. And so it is unique, because the plot is not invented, but written by life itself.
It all started with the fact that Elizabeth – a famous writer, a married lady, a rich woman and “everything is like people”, suddenly realizes that she is not living her life. She doesn’t want to be married, doesn’t want to have children, doesn’t want to live in that luxurious house. She wants to live differently. But how to do that? After all, without destroying the old, you cannot build the new. And Elizabeth decides to part with her old life and find a new self. In this search, you have to overcome a lot, and a long divorce from your husband, and a new unsuccessful love, and depression.
The search for myself lasted for a whole year. Elizabeth has eaten after her depression in Italy, practiced yoga and meditated in India and Indonesia, besides finding herself, she has found a new love!
I think any person will find something close to themselves in this work. The book makes you think about the meaning of life, about finding your own path, about how to accept and love yourself and the whole world! The book is of certain interest not only to women, but also to men. The breadth of horizons will not be superfluous to anyone.
